Find Out Whether Your Resort Bathroom Is Actually Private
Some all-inclusive resorts have gorgeous rooms designed with romance in mind. That may be perfect for couples. But for friends, siblings, cousins, in-laws, girls’ trips, guys’ trips, it can turn a relaxing vacation into a nightmare.
Use this tool to try to get a clearer idea of the bathroom privacy situation before you book. While we will flag whether a resort appears to be privacy-friendly, limited, or open-concept, there were some we were unable to confirm fully (sorry! I can’t visit every all-inclusive…at least, not yet 🙃). Always do your due diligence and double check the room layout.
Bathroom Privacy Finder
Look up a resort before you share a room. Get a quick yes/no-style privacy read, then open the card only if you want the evidence.
How to read this tool
Search a resort, destination, country, or bathroom phrase. If you choose a desired bathroom type and the evidence does not support it, the result will tell you that clearly.
This is a planning shortcut, not a live resort inventory feed. Bathroom layouts can vary by room category and may change over time, so use the evidence links, recent photos, and direct resort confirmation before booking.
Water closet is sometimes abbreviated as WC. Here, it means a private toilet room or toilet area. If a result says verify carefully, look closely at pictures for the exact room category to confirm whether the toilet has a real door, whether the shower/tub is visible from the sleeping area, and whether any glass or open-concept layout would be awkward for your group.
Find the bathroom setup
Search first. Filter only if you want to test whether a resort matches a specific privacy need.
Try a resort name, destination, country, or bathroom phrase.
Browse by country/region and bathroom type
Choose a country or region, then choose the bathroom situation you want to review. This is helpful when you want a quick list of resorts that appear private-friendly, limited, open/glass, or still need careful verification.
May your vacation be full of good food, great laughs, and beautiful views you actually want to see. Reach out if you’re ready to book your getaway.
Frequently Asked Questions
A few things to know before you decide whether that resort bathroom is actually private enough for your trip.
Why do some resorts have open bathrooms?
Some resorts use open-concept bathroom designs to make rooms feel larger, brighter, or more modern. You may see things like open sinks, glass showers, partially enclosed toilets, sliding panels, or bathroom areas that flow directly into the bedroom.
That can look beautiful in the resort photos. It can feel very different when you’re sharing the room with a friend, sibling, coworker, or anyone you don’t particularly want watching you brush your teeth from bed.
That’s exactly why this finder focuses on the actual bathroom layout, not just whether the resort describes the room as “luxurious” or “modern.”
Can different rooms at the same resort have different bathrooms?
Yes. This is one of the most important things to remember when using the finder.
A resort can have multiple room categories, buildings, renovations, suite layouts, or even different bathroom designs within similar room types. One room may have a fully enclosed bathroom while another category at the same resort has glass walls or a more open layout.
Always check the exact room category you plan to book, not just the resort name.
Does frosted glass count as private?
Not necessarily.
Frosted glass may block clear visibility, but it can still allow shadows, silhouettes, light, and movement to be visible from the bedroom. It also doesn’t solve sound privacy.
For this finder, frosted glass is treated differently from a solid, fully enclosed bathroom door. If you’re traveling with friends or sharing a room with someone other than a partner, you’ll probably want to pay closer attention to that distinction.
Basically, “technically you can’t see everything” and “this feels private” are not always the same thing.
How can I verify my exact room?
Start with the exact room category name you plan to book, then look for recent photos, room tours, floor plans, and descriptions for that specific category.
Before booking, you can also contact the resort and ask very specific questions, such as:
- Is the toilet behind a solid door?
- Does the shower have clear or frosted glass?
- Can the shower or toilet be seen from the bedroom?
- Is there a full bathroom door?
- Does this exact room category have the same bathroom layout in every room?
If bathroom privacy is a dealbreaker, ask for confirmation in writing when possible. Resort photos have a funny way of skipping the angle you actually needed to see.
